As a hay farmer in upstate New York, our target market has always been the horse trade using small square bales. As the business grew, it became imperative that we learn how to mechanically handle small square bales, and each year saw incremental improvements.
However, the more one utilizes mechanized bale handling, the more important consistent bale size becomes, and as production increases, consistent high capacity becomes increasingly frustrating. As anyone who has tried to get just-the-right-length bales out of a small square baler can imagine, trying to set six balers to produce consistent size bales is next to impossible.
I was always on the lookout for a better way.
